Dental insurance is coverage provided by your employer and a dental insurance company. The benefits you receive from your policy are based upon the contractual agreement between your employer and the dental insurance company.
Plans differ and based upon the company selected by your employer the allowance for certain treatments will vary. The amount paid by your insurer is based upon the amount your employer contributes to the plan.

Dental insurance generally won't cover certain cosmetic procedures. These include porcelain veneers, tooth whitening and tooth bonding. Some dental insurance plans will cover replacement of veneers if the original veneer deteriorated. These circumstances must be confirmed with the dental plan as some clauses include reimbursement for replacement of defective dental work.
Braces for straightening your teeth are covered by many dental plans. A chipped or damaged front tooth is quite often covered by dental plans and any repair after an injury is usually a successful claim.
